Why I Prefer WordPress Over Other Blogging Platform

Updated on March 14, 2014

Blogging is one of the best way to share and expand your knowledge on any particular subject and these days you can see a lot of people blogging for personal and professional reasons. Blogging is the online way of writing journals on a regular basis, which will be accessible for others and also provides the option to accept feedback from others.

In the initial periods blogging was restricted only to a handful of internet users, but its popularity has increased considerably in the last decade and a lot of persons, groups and business have started blogging. There are a lot of platform for starting your own blog and majority of them are free. Some of the well known blogging platforms are Blogger, WordPress, Xanga, Multiply, ShoutPost etc. Of these Blogger and WordPress are the hot favorites and is used by a large number of bloggers. My favorite blogging platform is WordPress and there are many reasons behind this and I would share few of those reasons with you all.

My Initial Experience with BlogSpot
It was around 7 years back, when I first started blogging and I used BlogSpot (Now Blogger) as my blogging platform. This was a free blogging tool and I was comfortable with this tool as I didn't need to customize too much. I didn't have any high requirements and all I needed was just keep posting contents on a regular basis. After an year, I noticed that the traffic was increasing on a good note and that too without doing any online marketing activities or SEO.

Since the blog was getting decent traffic, I tried to monetize it with placing Google Adsense using the Adsense platform. At that time Adsense was one of the best ways to make money online and I also got some good amount from Adsense. But the major issue that I faced was that I could not place the ads where I wished to, as it required a good level of programming skills to do so. It was also difficult to make optimize the blog to a higher level as I was not comfortable with programming stuff.

Turning Towards WordPress
I was at this time that I purchased a domain of my own for my blogging activities and was confused about which blogging platform to use. One of my friend recommended WordPress and I just gave it a try. To my delight, WordPress was something of a top class world platform as it had plenty of options and was very much easy to customize. A lot of plug-ins were available to make it more simple and efficient and most of the plugins were free. You could also select themes from a wide range of free WordPress themes which are available online. It was pretty much easy to create a SEO friendly blog using WordPress and my blog started getting a rapid increase in its search engine rankings.

Ultimate Output
As a result my overall website traffic started increasing and I saw an increase in my Google Adsense earning. I also used other website monetization methods which again increased my earnings from my blog. The only thing that I got irritated during my initial days with WordPress was the regular hacking of the website by using SQL injection through the WordPress platform and the huge amount of spam comments coming through the comments area. But WordPress has updated its security in a good way so that the hacking experience has reduced considerably in the lat one year. Each day WordPress is introducing new plugins which would really improve the overall look and feel of the blog.

This doesn't mean that Blogger platform is a bad one, but I prefer WordPress over Blogger and other free blogging platform. There are a lot of guys who are comfortable with Blogger and they considered Blogger much better than WordPress. But due to the nature of my requirement, I always prefer WordPress when it comes to blogging.

Some of the major reasons for preferring Wordpress over other blogging platform are given below.
1) Easy to install, use and customize.
2) SEO friendly.
3) Easy to Upgrade.
4) The availability of a wide range of plugins.
5) Good loading speed.
6) Easy support.
7) Useful inbuilt facilities

If you are looking for a better blogging platform that can be easily promoted over the web, then I would instantly recommend Wordpress as I have proven experience about its amazing features and facilities. There are many other features apart from the above mentioned points, which you can experience once you start using Wordpress for your blogging purposes. Hope you all have a great time using Wordpress as your blogging platform.
