Watermelon - The Best Summer Friend

Updated on April 9, 2013

Summer is at its peak in most of the States in India and things are really looking bleak. The summer heat has brought out a number of epidemics and other issues mainly caused by using unhygienic drinking water. Most of these diseases can be avoided if the people were aware about the diseases transmitted through drinking water. But in summer most of the time people run out of options mainly while traveling as they are forced to drink the available drinking resources. This may lead to sickness and may even be a threat to human life.

I too face the same issue and am really afraid to take drinks available outside during the summer seasons. One of the best options to tackle this issue is taking watermelons, which are one of the best things to have during summer. It will quench your thirst as well as provide a solution for your hunger. Watermelons are something which we can take with guarantee, as there is no hygienic issue and are safe to have it. You can eat the watermelons once it is cut into pieces and you can also crush it using a mixer and have it as a semi drink.

The amount of water content in Watermelon makes it a perfect solution to avoid dehydration during summer and luckily summer is the peak season for watermelons. Doctors too mention the advantages of watermelon and the benefits of taking it during the summer season. The health benefits of having watermelon are many and there are too much of scientific reasons stating the advantages of taking watermelons during summer.

The red pigments found in watermelons are really helpful in eliminating the chances of breast, endometrial, lung, colon and prostate cancer. There are a lot of watermelon species which are rich in the red pigments and you can select them if you are really serious about your health. Water melons are highly recommended for patients suffering from kidney related issues and in the older days it was used as an alternative for dialysis in many places. As per the American Heart Association (AHA) watermelons are certified as heart healthy food and hence it is highly recommended for all people.

So if you are staying in a place where there is extreme summer season, then I would recommend you to take watermelons on a regular basis and this will really help you in repelling the extreme heat conditions prevailing in your body. It will also safeguard you from unnecessary illness and diseases that usually gets transmitted through drinking water. It will serve as both snack and drink, and this will be really helpful for those staying along and do not have the time or resource for cooking food.

During summer, I always try to buy the best watermelons available in the market and this may be one of the reasons why I am not getting hit by the usual summer disease and illness for the last 6 years. If you are facing health issues during summer, then you should try out watermelons on a regular basis and see your health issues decreasing to a great level.
