10 Reasons Why Some Business Websites Fails

Updated on May 26, 2014

Websites are one of the most essential elements of any business and is considered as the best medium to capture online leads, sales and revenue. They have come through a lot of revolutions and changes in the last 2 decades and these days we can see a large number of websites with different styles and layouts. Most of them are personal or just intended to provide information, while a good number are aimed at promoting their products or services online.

Based on the needs and objectives, there are various factors to find out whether a website is a success or failure. In the case of business websites, the webmaster needs to make sure that the it do not fail and brings in enormous leads that can be converted into sales or revenue. If a business website does not generate any leads or sales, there will be no revenue from the website and it can be labelled as a failure.

The reason for the failure may vary depending on various situations and factors, but still there are some factors that can be counted as common reasons for the failures of major websites. Here are 10 of the major reason why some of the business websites fails in the end.

1) Poor Design
A poor design and architectural layout may not create required interest in the minds of the visitors and they would prefer never suggest the website to their friends or return back to your site. If your site does not get enough referrals and returning visitors, it is bound to fail at any cost.

2) Poor Content Quality
It is quite difficult for a website to survive without quality content. A website with poor quality content will be rejected by the visitors and these days even the search engines are smart enough to knock down sites with poor quality content.

3) Less Content Quantity
There are a lot of websites which are developed using less or no content at all. Actually search engines and visitors love content on the website and if your website has little content, it will certainly fail.

4) Not Focused
If you are running a business website, it should have some aim, goals and stay focused. If your website is not focused towards any particular goals, then you cannot expect too much revenue from your website.

5) Not Optimized for Search Engines
Optimizing your website for search engines or search engine optimization (SEO) is one of the most important things which helps you to get relevant traffic from search engines. If it is not properly optimized, it will certainly do not receive any relevant visitors and will turn out to be a failure.

6) No Lead Capturing Form
The sole goal of a business is to capture lead which can be later used to be converted into a sale. If the web site does not have a form for capturing leads, then it is going to miss out on potential leads and subsequent revenue.

7) No Call-to-action Modules
Even if you have content and forms that captures leads, it will not be effective if you do not have a call to action modules. A call to action content, buttons, images etc can really help you in getting more leads.

8) Forms are not working
Even though you have content, lead capturing form and well created call-to-action modules, there will be no gain if your forms are not working fine. A small programming update or change might trigger a bug on the lead form and this will make your website a total lose.

9) No Compatibility
Today, it is the world of smart phones, tabs and advanced gadgets. If your site is not displayed properly on these gadgets and smartphones, you are definitely losing a good number of visitors and leads. Since majority of the population are using smartphones and gadgets to access the internet, a website that is not compatible with these devices are sure to fail.

10) Poor Branding
Branding is the utmost thing that drives success to any business, and if your company or your business website is not properly branded, it will not create that punch effect in the industry. A website without proper branding will be a failure and that is the reason why majority of the major companies invest a lot of bucks in branding.

There are just 10 points among the large pool of reasons behind the failure of a business site and there are still many which I have not mentioned over here. So if your business web site is not bringing enough success, then you might have a look at the above points and make sure that your site is not lacking anything mentioned above.
